Arbor - Wood Phone Case

How much wood would a woodchuck—just kidding. For many, wood remains at the heart of what they do. For us, it's been in almost every case, but often not in a way that pays homage to where it comes from. Whether you're a woodworker, lumberjack, landscaper, gardener, adventurer or just someone who wants to bring a little piece of the forest home with them, the Arbor wooden phone case is for you.

The Arbor is a cross-section of a tree trunk laid out across the back of the case, built from five different wood species. Sapele forms the rich reddish-brown background, and four concentric tree rings sit on top of it: wenge on the outer ring, near-black like the bark of a tree; then a pale cream ring of maple; a warm pink-brown cherry ring inside that; and a deep chocolate walnut heartwood at the centre. Because every ring and the backer are real veneer with its own grain, no two Arbor cases look exactly the same.

Each veneer is finished with a semi-gloss protective coat before being laser-cut, with kerf compensation tight enough to keep the concentric rings seated cleanly inside each other and against the sapele backer beneath. The cut pieces are then assembled by hand in our Mississauga workshop, fitting together like puzzle pieces, and the completed design is pressed flush to the case back so the surface stays smooth under your thumb. The Arbor pulls double duty as both material and subject, with five wood species working together to render the cross-section of a tree. Available for all current iPhone and Samsung Galaxy models, with integrated MagSafe magnets and a soft microfibre interior lining on iPhone 13 and newer.
