Wilderness - Wood Phone Case

The Wilderness wooden phone case was built around two ideas at once: back-country adventure and retro-nostalgia. It pairs a classic mountain-and-sunset scene with the kind of segmented, sun-ray styling you'd find on a vintage national park poster or an old video game cover, rendered entirely in layered wood and warm colour.

The Wilderness is built on a dark wenge backer that makes the brighter inlays stand out. At the center sits a padauk sun in deep red-orange, segmented into horizontal bands for a retro sunset effect, with a row of concentric maple arcs radiating above it like rays catching the last light. A cherry mountain range rises in front of the sun, its tree-lined base silhouetted against the glow, and a maple banner sits below with the word WILDERNESS engraved into it. Four wood species carry the scene: wenge for the background, padauk for the sun, cherry for the mountains, and maple for the rays and banner. Because every piece is real wood veneer with its own grain, no two Wilderness cases look exactly the same.

Each veneer is finished with a semi-gloss protective coat before being laser-cut, and the WILDERNESS lettering is engraved into the maple banner before assembly. The cut pieces are then fitted together by hand in our Mississauga workshop, seating like puzzle pieces against the wenge backer, and the completed design is pressed flush to the case back so the surface stays smooth under your thumb. The Wilderness sits squarely in the outdoor aesthetic that has been part of Keyway since the beginning, with a retro-poster styling that gives the classic mountain-and-sunset scene a nostalgic, graphic feel. Available for all current iPhone and Samsung Galaxy models, with integrated MagSafe magnets and a soft microfibre interior lining on iPhone 13 and newer.
