Anchor - Wood Phone Case

Few symbols carry as much weight as the anchor. It's stood for hope, steadiness, and staying grounded for as long as people have put to sea, which is probably why it never really goes out of style. The Anchor wooden phone case takes that classic maritime mark and repeats it across the whole back of the case in a clean, all-over pattern.

The Anchor is built on a dark wenge backer, with its straight, linear grain running horizontally across the case. Scattered evenly over it is a repeating pattern of small anchors cut from pale maple, each a classic stock-anchor shape with the crossbar and curved flukes, staggered row to row so the design reads as a tight, even field rather than a rigid grid. The pale maple against the near-black wenge gives the whole case a crisp, high-contrast look. Because every anchor and the backer are real wood veneer, the grain runs differently through each piece and no two Anchor cases look exactly the same.

Each veneer is finished with a semi-gloss protective coat before being laser-cut, with kerf compensation tight enough to keep dozens of small anchors seated cleanly against the wenge backer. The cut pieces are then fitted together by hand in our Mississauga workshop, seating like puzzle pieces, and the completed design is pressed flush to the case back so the surface stays smooth under your thumb. The Anchor brings a nautical, coastal feel to the Keyway lineup, an easy fit for anyone drawn to the water, sailing, or just a clean repeating pattern.
